What gain can you expect over a SATA SSD?
Lexar rates the NM610 PRO as up to ten times faster than a standard SATA SSD, thanks to its PCIe NVMe interface. The gain shows in system boot and application launch times, more than when reading files that are already open.
How many terabytes written can this 500 GB drive handle?
120 TB, or 240 full drive writes. The whole scale for the series is published: 60 TB on the 250 GB, 240 TB on the 1 TB and 480 TB on the 2 TB. The write allowance therefore doubles at each capacity step.
How thick is this module, and does it fit in a laptop?
2.45 mm for 9 g, in an 80 by 22 mm format. That is flat enough to slip under the cover of a laptop, even where headroom is tight. As the module is bare, no heatsink adds extra thickness at installation.
What slot is needed to install this SSD?
An M.2 2280 connector — 22 mm wide by 80 mm long — wired for PCIe Gen3 x4 and recognised as NVMe. It is the universal form factor of modern motherboards and recent laptops, in towers and mobile machines alike.
Can this SSD handle being carried around every day?
Yes. There are no moving parts inside. It withstands shocks of 1,500 G over 0.5 ms (half-sine wave) and vibrations from 10 to 2,000 Hz up to 20 G, thirty minutes per axis. The advertised mean time between failures is 1,500,000 hours.
Within what temperature range can it operate?
From 0 to 70 °C in operation, and from -40 to 85 °C when powered off. Its energy efficiency is also presented as optimised to preserve battery life, which limits the heat released under a laptop's cover accordingly.
Is the drive new and under warranty?
It is new and comes with Lexar's official manufacturer warranty, your invoice serving as proof. It carries the reference LNM610P500G-RNNNG, to be quoted for any return: the NM610 PRO series ranges from 250 GB to 2 TB, with an endurance specific to each capacity.
