Frequently asked questions about this product

Is a power supply included with the Aruba AP-303?
No, power sources are sold separately: make sure you have an 802.3af PoE port or a 12 V mains adapter. The access point draws at most 10.1 W on PoE and 8.8 W on mains power, dropping to about 4 W when idle.
Is the AP-303 mounting clip included?
Yes, the access point comes with black clips for suspended ceiling rails, in 9/16 and 15/16 inch sizes. For any other surface — wall, junction box, pole — optional mounting kits are ordered separately.
What is the difference between the AP-303 and the AP-303P version?
The AP-303, sold here, has only one Ethernet port; the P version adds a second one with PoE output and a Zigbee radio. The antenna gains also differ: 3.3 dBi on 2.4 GHz and 5.8 dBi on 5 GHz for the AP-303.
How many devices does the AP-303 accept?
256 clients per radio and up to 16 Wi-Fi networks per radio, with 2×2 MU-MIMO on both bands. The data rate reaches 867 Mbps on the 5 GHz band and 300 Mbps on 2.4 GHz.
Do you need an Aruba controller to use the AP-303?
No, it is a unified access point: it can be deployed with a controller under ArubaOS or without a controller under InstantOS, and can also be managed from Aruba Central in the cloud. The choice is made at installation, without changing hardware.
Can the AP-303 be used for location services?
Yes, it has a built-in Bluetooth Low Energy radio that enables location-based services for compatible mobile devices, especially when they pick up several Aruba beacons at the same time.
Are the AP-303's antennas directional?
They are internal, dual-band and tilted downwards by about 30°, optimised for horizontal ceiling mounting. Wall mounting therefore deflects the main lobe: a point to consider before choosing the location.
What connectors does the AP-303 have?
An auto-sensing 10/100/1000 Ethernet port, 802.3az compatible (energy saving), a 12 V DC input on a 2.1/5.5 mm jack, a serial console on micro-USB, three-colour LEDs and a Kensington lock slot.
How much ceiling space does the AP-303 take up?
150 × 150 × 35 mm and 260 g, excluding mounting accessories — one of the most compact access points of its generation, which makes it easier to fit into a suspended ceiling tile.
Can two AP-303 access points be linked without a cable between them?
Yes, the access point supports secure mesh: a remote access point connects to the network wirelessly. It still needs power on site, but no network cable has to be run to it.
Is the equipment new and under warranty?
