How many VLANs can be created on the TL-SG108E?
32 simultaneous VLANs, with 802.1Q tagging, port-based or MTU VLAN. This is what sets this “Easy Smart” model apart from an unmanaged switch: you can isolate a guest workstation, a camera or a department on a simple eight-port unit.
How is this Easy Smart switch configured?
Through a web interface or the Easy Smart configuration utility, which manages several switches in the range from a Windows PC. It provides traffic monitoring, port mirroring and Ethernet link diagnostics.
Can voice and video be prioritised on this model?
Yes, by port or by 802.1p tag and DSCP marking: latency-sensitive traffic goes ahead of file transfers. IGMP snooping also directs multicast streams only to the ports that request them.
What diagnostic tools does this switch offer?
Port mirroring to analyse traffic, Ethernet link diagnostics to locate a break, and loop prevention. The manufacturer presents them as the way to identify and locate a connection problem within the company.
Can several ports be aggregated towards a server?
Yes, through static aggregation, up to four groups: several ports form a single link to a server or another switch, which multiplies the bandwidth available on that link.
How much power does this switch use, and does it make any noise?
4.48 W maximum at 220 V/50 Hz, from an external 9 V / 0.6 A power adapter. Cooling is passive — no fan, so no noise — in a 158 × 101 × 25 mm case that sits on a desk.
