Can the EAP650-Outdoor withstand prolonged immersion?

Its housing is rated IP68: dust-tight and protected against prolonged immersion, the highest level in the standard. On top of that come 6 kV lightning protection and a built-in grounding terminal, to be connected during installation.

What temperature range can the EAP650-Outdoor withstand?

From -30 to +70 °C: this access point copes with night-time frost just as well as with a wall exposed to full sun. It is one of the widest ranges in the category, suited to courtyards, car parks and green spaces.

How far does the EAP650-Outdoor's signal reach?

Up to 300 m on the 5 GHz band and 200 m on 2.4 GHz, thanks to internal omnidirectional antennas with high-power amplifiers — 5 dBi on 5 GHz and 4 dBi on 2.4 GHz. These ranges assume no obstacles between the access point and the device.

Do you need to buy an injector for the EAP650-Outdoor?

No, a passive PoE adapter is included. The access point also accepts a standard PoE+ 802.3at port: a single Gigabit cable then carries both power and data, which keeps outdoor cabling to a minimum.

What throughput does the EAP650-Outdoor deliver?

2,402 Mbps on the 5 GHz band and 573 Mbps on 2.4 GHz, i.e. the AX3000 class of Wi-Fi 6, with 2×2 MU-MIMO on each band. OFDMA and 1024-QAM modulation maintain performance when the area gets busy.

How many devices can the EAP650-Outdoor serve at the same time?

Up to 250 connected devices. That is the scale of a school playground, a car park or a restaurant terrace, where density rises quickly at peak times.

Is the single Gigabit port a bottleneck?

The radios add up to nearly 3 Gbps, but all traffic goes through a single Gigabit port. Outdoors, where usage is mainly web browsing, video and payments spread across many devices, this limit is not noticeable in practice.

How is the EAP650-Outdoor mounted?

On a wall or a pole. The housing measures 280.4 × 106.5 × 56.8 mm: it is an elongated access point, so plan for a clear mounting point, with its grounding terminal connected.

Can you cover a remote area without running a cable to it?

Yes, Omada mesh lets an access point connect to the network wirelessly, which avoids digging a trench across a park or a car park. It still needs power on site, and seamless roaming keeps the connection going between access points.

How do you manage several EAP650-Outdoor access points remotely?

Through the Omada SDN platform: software controller, hardware controller, cloud controller or mobile app, as you prefer. A new access point is adopted in one click, with no manual configuration on site.

Is this access point also suitable for indoor use?

Yes, it is specified for both indoor and outdoor use: an unheated warehouse, a hangar or a dusty equipment room are all within its scope, where an office access point would struggle.

Is the equipment new and under warranty?

Yes, new equipment, with the invoice serving as the warranty document for one year. The access point fits into the Omada ecosystem alongside the range's switches and gateways, all managed from the same interface.
