Frequently asked questions about this product

Does this M.2 SSD work in any M.2 slot?
No, and this is the first thing to check: the Wave(N) is a drive with a SATA III interface, not NVMe. It needs an M.2 slot wired for SATA. On a motherboard whose M.2 slot only accepts PCIe NVMe, the drive will not be recognised.
What speeds can you expect from this 1 TB Wave(N)?
560 MB/s read and 510 MB/s write, with 90,000 IOPS in 4 KB random read and 75,000 in write. These are the figures specific to this capacity, and the ceiling of SATA: to go beyond them, you need an NVMe drive and a slot wired for PCIe.
How many terabytes of writes can this capacity handle?
280 TB, or 280 full drive writes. Across the series, endurance ranges from 35 TB on the 128 GB to 560 TB on the 2 TB: the write endurance doubles with each step up. The mean time between failures is rated at 1,500,000 hours.
How much power does it draw, and how much does it weigh?
2.5 W maximum, for a weight of no more than 5.4 g. This is one of the advantages of SATA in this form factor: the drive does not heat up like a fast NVMe drive and needs no heatsink to sustain its speeds.
Is this drive sensitive to the vibrations of a laptop?
No. The Wave(N) has a vibration-resistant design with no mechanical parts at all: everything goes through an electronic controller chip and 3D NAND memory. Its operating range is 0 to 70 °C.
Does it work on macOS and Linux?
Yes, it is stated to be compatible with Windows, macOS and Linux. It is a SATA drive that the system sees like any other volume, with no proprietary driver to install: once it is screwed into its M.2 SATA slot, all that remains is to partition and format it.
What can you store on 1 TB of this type?
It is the right size for a game library, a photo library or a video collection that you want to keep close at hand. In a recent laptop with an M.2 SATA slot, it also makes a comfortable main drive, system and software included.
Is the drive new and under warranty?
It is new and your invoice serves as the warranty document. Its part number is HS-SSD-WAVE-N-1T, to be quoted for any return. The full datasheet for the series gives the details capacity by capacity.
