Product overview

A rack/tower convertible online UPS: online double conversion, 1500 VA / 1500 W, 2U format.
Technology & protection: power is fully and continuously regenerated — your servers never touch the mains, with no transfer time. Complete protection against outages, surges, voltage fluctuations and electrical noise.
Power: 1500 VA for 1500 W of real power — its power factor of 1 makes all of the rated power available in watts, where a conventional UPS loses almost half of it.
Outlets: 8 C13 outlets (computer and server power cords).
LCD display: shows load, battery level and remaining runtime at a glance — so you can monitor the UPS without any software.
Ideal, for example, for a server, a NAS or a switch, in a rack or tower setup.

Frequently asked questions about this product

How long does the Balder 1500 run on battery?
27 minutes at 25% load, 11 minutes at 50% (750 W), 6 minutes at 75% and 3 minutes at full load. The difference is dramatic: it is the headroom you leave that determines the runtime, far more than the stated capacity.
Does this 1500 VA unit really deliver 1500 W?
Yes: its output power factor is 1, so the full 1500 VA is available in watts. On a desktop UPS at 0.55, only 825 would remain for the same stated rating.
What are the programmable outlets on the Balder 1500 for?
Four of the eight C13 outlets can be controlled: you can set them to cut power to secondary equipment after a certain time on battery, so that the remaining runtime is kept for the server that really matters.
Can the Balder 1500 be rack-mounted or used as a tower?
Both: it is a 2U convertible chassis, measuring 88 mm high, 438 wide and 410 deep, weighing 15.5 kg. You can slide it into a 19-inch cabinet or stand it on the floor.
What input voltage does the Balder 1500 accept?
From 160 to 300 V at full load, and from as low as 110 V at half load, at a frequency of 40 to 70 Hz. This latitude lets it stay in normal mode where an ordinary UPS would switch to its batteries.
Does the Balder 1500 work with a generator?
Yes, it is rated generator-compatible: its wide voltage and frequency range absorbs the fluctuations of a standalone power source, which is not the case with every UPS.
Can the batteries of the Balder 1500 be replaced without shutting it down?
Yes, they are hot-swappable: three HR09122F modules are fitted as standard, and an external battery cabinet is available as an option to extend the runtime.
How do you monitor the Balder 1500?
Through a USB port, an RS-232 serial port and an intelligent slot that accepts an optional SNMP or Modbus card. The ViewPower software handles monitoring and automatic shutdown of the machines.
Does the Balder 1500 protect the network line?
Yes, two RJ11/RJ45 ports pass through the unit and protect the line — modem, telephone or network — against surges. On the mains side, surge absorption reaches 624 joules.
How long does it take to recharge the Balder 1500?
3 hours to recover 95% of capacity, at the default charging current of 2 A — adjustable up to 12 A to charge faster. Switching to battery, for its part, is instantaneous.
Is the Balder 1500 noisy, and does it use a lot of power?
It stays below 50 dB, and its efficiency exceeds 89% in normal operation, rising to over 95% in ECO mode. On a unit that runs day and night, this difference shows up on the bill.
Is the nJoy Balder 1500 UPS new and under warranty?
Yes, new equipment, with the invoice serving as the warranty document for 3 years. It delivers a pure sine wave and features emergency power off, cold start and an internal bypass. The datasheet covers the rest.
