What speeds does this core switch support?
Four types of port on a single chassis: 24 Gigabit copper ports, 16 SFP+ ports at 10 Gbps, 8 SFP28 ports at 25 Gbps and 2 QSFP28 ports at 40 or 100 Gbps. This is what allows workstations, servers and a network core to be connected to the same device.
What switching capacity does this chassis offer?
1,168 Gbps and 867 Mpps: more than a terabit per second in 1U. The chassis measures 442 × 420 × 43.6 mm and weighs 6.31 kg, with an expansion slot reserved for an additional card.
Which power modules does this switch accept?
Several, depending on your needs: a 180 W AC module, a 240 W or 400 W DC module, or a 600 W AC module. It accepts both 100-240 V AC and the -48 V DC used in telecom rooms, with a typical power consumption of 122 W.
What happens if a link in the ring is cut?
The ERPS protocol, standardised as ITU-T G.8032, switches over within a few milliseconds. STP, RSTP and MSTP cover conventional topologies, while Smart Link and VRRP provide redundancy for the uplinks and the gateway.
Can several of these switches be stacked?
Yes, with iStack: several chassis become a single logical switch, with redundancy between members and cross-device link aggregation. You can connect to any member to manage the whole stack.
How are users authenticated on this switch?
With 802.1X or MAC address authentication, and unified management that hides the differences between access devices. Users are managed by group, by domain and by time slot — user-centred rather than port-centred administration.
How is quality of service ensured on this model?
Through prioritised queues and multi-level scheduling, with congestion control algorithms. The manufacturer claims fine-grained scheduling of traffic flows, adapted to the differing requirements of services and terminals.
How is this core switch managed?
Through the HUAWEI eKit app, in cloud or on-premises mode — you switch between the two according to your internal policy. Configuration, monitoring and inspection are done remotely, which reduces travel to the equipped sites.
