What is this 17-port Uniview switch for?
To connect and power IP cameras in a video surveillance system: PoE power runs through the network cable, which does away with a power socket at each camera point and simplifies the cabling of a site.
How does the switch adapt to the connected devices?
Through auto-negotiation: each port detects the link speed and mode on its own — full duplex or half duplex — with no configuration. A mix of older and newer cameras therefore works side by side without intervention.
Can you monitor the PoE consumption of the cameras?
Yes: the switch lets you view the PoE status and the power delivered. This is how you spot a camera drawing an abnormal amount of power, or check that there is headroom left before adding another one.
How many devices can be connected to this switch?
Seventeen, cameras and network devices combined. It is an intermediate size: more than an 8-port unit, fewer than a 24-port chassis, suited to a medium-sized video surveillance installation — a shop, a warehouse, a small industrial site.
Is the switch new and covered by a warranty?
