Frequently asked questions about this product

Why does the EAP660 HD have a 2.5 Gbps port?
Because its radios add up to 3.5 Gbps — 2,402 Mbps on 5 GHz and 1,148 Mbps on 2.4 GHz: a Gigabit port would become the bottleneck. The 2.5 Gbps port removes that ceiling, provided the switch at the other end supports it too.
How many devices can the EAP660 HD serve?
More than 1,000 simultaneous clients — the highest figure among the dual-band models in this category. That is what makes it suited to lecture theatres, convention halls and large rooms, where device density matters more than the area covered.
What difference does the 4x4 MIMO of the EAP660 HD make?
Four spatial streams on each of the two bands instead of two: the access point talks to more devices in parallel. It is also what takes the 2.4 GHz band up to 1,148 Mbps, a rare level on that frequency.
What power supply do you need for the EAP660 HD?
A PoE+ 802.3at port: a single network cable carries both power and data. A 12 V power supply remains possible as a fallback, where no PoE port is available.
Does the EAP660 HD support WPA3?
Yes, and it also offers a captive portal with a guest network: visitors go through a welcome page and stay separated from the internal network, with no additional hardware.
Can you add an access point where no network cable reaches?
Yes, the EAP660 HD supports Omada Mesh: the new access point connects to the network wirelessly rather than by cable. It still needs power on site, and seamless roaming moves devices from one access point to another.
Do you need a controller to manage several EAP660 HD units?
Management runs through the Omada SDN platform: cloud controller, hardware controller, software controller or mobile app, as you prefer. Omada access points, switches and gateways are all managed from the same interface.
Where can the EAP660 HD be installed?
Indoors, on the ceiling or the wall, with the mounting kits included. It is an open-plan access point: it goes in the centre of the area to be covered, where device density is highest.
Is the equipment new and under warranty?
Yes, new equipment, with the invoice serving as the warranty document for 1 year. The access point fits into the Omada ecosystem alongside the range's switches and gateways, all managed from the same interface.
