Product overview
Very high-power online UPS for critical infrastructure: online double-conversion technology, 16 kW / 20 kVA, rack chassis. Technology & protection: power is fully regenerated, continuously — your equipment is never connected directly to the mains, with no transfer time at all. Complete protection against power cuts, surges, voltage fluctuations and electrical noise. Power: 20 kVA for 16 kW — sized to power server cabinets, several racks and industrial equipment. Ports: heavy-duty C19 outputs and terminal-block connection; single-phase or three-phase input depending on the installation. Management: RS-232 serial port and slot for a network management card. Designed, for example, for data centres and technical rooms. Remember to check how much power your equipment draws and to choose the capacity according to the runtime you need.

Frequently asked questions about this product
Does the Smart-UPS RT 20 kVA connect via a terminal block?
Yes, on both input and output: either 3-wire single-phase (230 V) or 5-wire three-phase (400 V), depending on the installation. It is fixed wiring, to be done by an electrician, with a 125 A input circuit breaker.
What outputs does the Smart-UPS RT 20 kVA offer?
Eight heavy-duty 16 A C19 outlets, two IEC jumpers, and two terminal block outputs — one 3-wire, the other 5-wire. C19 is the format used by high-current equipment.
Why does 20 kVA give only 16 kW?
The power factor is 0.8: 16 kW actually available. Compare this figure in watts with the combined consumption of your server racks — it is what determines the load the UPS can carry.
How much does the Smart-UPS RT 20 kVA weigh?
247.7 kg, for a 432 × 773 × 533 mm chassis. At this weight, installation requires handling equipment, a floor that has been checked and clear access all the way to the room — this is the point to sort out even before the wiring.
What input voltage range does the UPS accept?
160 to 280 V, with an auto-sensed frequency of 40 to 70 Hz, and input voltage regulation. In double conversion, the output remains a sine wave whatever the quality of the grid.
How is the Smart-UPS RT 20 kVA monitored?
Through a DB-9 RS-232 serial port, a 10/100 RJ-45 network port for remote monitoring, and a SmartSlot. A multifunction LCD console on the front panel serves as both status display and control station.
How long does it take to recharge the batteries?
2 h 30 for a full recharge, on maintenance-free sealed lead-acid batteries with suspended electrolyte. That is fast for this power rating.
Is the APC Smart-UPS RT 20 kVA new and under warranty?
Yes, new equipment, with the invoice serving as the warranty document. It accepts a 230 V single-phase or 400 V three-phase input depending on the installation, and delivers 230 V on the output. An audible alarm signals changes of state.
