How are the 370 W of PoE+ shared across 48 ports?
370 W shared by the 48 ports, to the 802.3af and 802.3at standards. The budget fills up quickly: around thirty cameras at 12 W use almost all of it. On a chassis of this density, it is the PoE budget — not the number of ports — that sizes the project.
How much power does this switch draw?
448 W at most, PoE power included, from a 100-240 V input at 7 A. The power supply is fixed and built in: a mains cable is all you need, but size the UPS and the room's circuit accordingly.
How many VLANs does this switch support?
4,094 VLANs, across the full ID range, assignable by port, by MAC address or by IP subnet, with a voice VLAN dedicated to telephony. The MAC address table holds 16,000 entries.
How many filtering rules can be written?
1,900 entries, split between standard IP lists, extended MAC address lists and extended IP lists. They work together with IP Source Guard, ARP anti-spoofing and DHCP snooping to lock down an access network.
What are the 4 SFP+ ports on this model for?
They are the 10 Gbps uplinks to the network core: 48 Gigabit access ports are not squeezed through a single output. Switching capacity reaches 176 Gbps for 130.95 Mpps, enough for them all to work together.
Is this switch noisy in a shared room?
A single fan, with adaptive speed, for a noise level below 45 dB during operation. It is still rack or comms-room equipment: leave the clearance needed for airflow around the chassis.
What electrical protection does this switch offer?
Surge protection of 6 kV on the ports, useful where outdoor cameras are cabled into the building and where storms threaten the copper cabling. The stated mean time between failures exceeds 200,000 hours.
How much rack space does this 48-port chassis take up?
440 × 357.6 × 43.6 mm: 1U high, but nearly 36 cm deep — a narrow wall-mount cabinet will not do. The box weighs 5.4 kg and contains the switch, its mains cable and the mounting accessories.
How can this switch be managed remotely?
Through Ruijie Cloud, free for the lifetime of the hardware, with zero-touch deployment, monitoring and alerts; or through the local web interface, accessible over both HTTP and HTTPS. Automatic IP camera detection makes it easier to monitor a video surveillance installation.
Are video streams handled properly on this model?
Yes: IGMP snooping v1, v2 and v3 sends multicast only to the ports that request it, which keeps camera streams stable, and quality of service protects voice and critical traffic. Jumbo frames go up to 9,216 bytes.
How does the switch protect the network against a loop?
With STP, RSTP and MSTP, complemented by LACP link aggregation for uplink redundancy. The LLDP protocol and its LLDP-MED extension discover neighbouring devices, which speeds up troubleshooting when a link misbehaves.
