Product overview

A high-end online UPS, convertible between rack and tower: online double conversion, 1000 VA / 1000 W, 2U format.
Technology & protection: power is fully and continuously regenerated — your servers are never exposed to the mains, with zero transfer time. Complete protection against outages, surges, voltage fluctuations and electrical noise.
Power: 1000 VA for 1000 W of real power — its power factor of 1 makes all of the rated power available in watts, where a conventional UPS loses almost half of it.
Runtime: about 28 minutes at half load (500 W) — outstanding runtime, extendable with additional battery modules.
Outlets: 8 C13-type outlets (the standard computer and server power cord).
Management: USB and RS-232 serial ports for automatic shutdown; slot for an SNMP network card. Graphical LCD display. Quiet operation (under 35 dB).

Frequently asked questions about this product

How long does the 9PX 1000 RT2U run on battery?
28 minutes at half load, i.e. 500 W. That is exceptionally long for this power rating, and runtime can reach several hours with up to four hot-swappable battery modules.
Does this 1000 VA UPS really deliver 1000 W?
Yes: the power factor is 1, so all of the apparent power is available in watts. On a conventional UPS with a 0.7 power factor, only 700 would remain.
What does ABM charge management bring on the 9PX 1000?
It only recharges the batteries when necessary, instead of keeping them on permanent charge: this prevents plate corrosion and extends their service life.
What are the controllable outlet groups for?
To switch off secondary equipment first during an outage: two groups can be controlled separately, which reserves the whole battery for critical machines. That is extra runtime with no additional hardware.
What outlets does the 9PX 1000 RT2U have?
Eight C13 outlets on the output, with a C14 input. Two IEC output cords are supplied, along with the rack and tower mounting brackets and a cable locking system.
Can a 1000 VA online UPS stay in an office?
This one, yes: it is rated at less than 35 dBA, remarkably low for a double-conversion unit. Allow for 17.4 kg for a 2U chassis 440 mm wide and 450 mm deep.
Does power still get through if the UPS breaks down?
Yes, an internal bypass lets mains power through to the equipment. The unit also accepts an input of 176 to 276 V before drawing on its battery.
Is the Eaton 9PX 1000 RT2U (9PX1000IRT2U) new and under warranty?
Yes, new equipment, with the invoice serving as the warranty document. It delivers a pure sine wave output, shows its status on a multilingual graphic LCD screen and has a slot for a Network-MS, ModBus-MS or Relay-MS card. The datasheet covers the rest.
