Frequently asked questions about this product

How is the 370 W of PoE+ shared across 24 ports?
370 W shared by all 24 ports, with a maximum of 30 W per port under 802.3at. Twenty-four 12 W cameras draw less than 300 W; a dozen power-hungry Wi-Fi access points use up the whole budget.
Can this switch route between several subnets?
Yes, it is a Layer 3 model: static routing — 256 routes —, RIP v1, v2 and RIPng, and Access OSPF. VLAN segmentation therefore no longer means sending internal traffic all the way up to the site router.
What are the OSPF limits on this model?
A single OSPF area and eight interfaces at most. This is access-level OSPF, designed to connect a building to a network core — not to carry the routed topology of a campus, which calls for an aggregation device.
What does dynamic segmentation bring to this switch?
It places a user's traffic in a secure tunnel to an Aruba controller, which applies the same policy to wired and Wi-Fi connections. Local MAC authentication, for its part, assigns a VLAN automatically based on the device profile.
What internal performance does this 24-port model offer?
56 Gbps of switching capacity and 41.7 Mpps, with a 32,768-address MAC table — well beyond the needs of a single floor. The four SFP slots provide the fibre uplink.
How is this switch managed day to day?
From Aruba Central in the cloud, through the web interface or the command line, with SNMPv3 monitoring and IPv6 support. LACP aggregation and STP, RSTP or MSTP spanning tree round out the Layer 2 features.
Is the switch new, and where can I find its datasheet?
