How long does the SRV3KI last on battery?
12 minutes at 50% load, i.e. 1200 W, and 7 minutes at 70%, i.e. 1680 W. A full recharge then takes 4 hours: after a long outage, the UPS needs half a day to get its full reserve back.
Does the SRV3KI plug into an ordinary wall socket?
Yes: two cords are supplied, a C19 to Schuko and a C13 to C14. So you need neither to call in an electrician nor to order a cord to connect the UPS and a first machine.
Are all of the SRV3KI's outlets on battery backup?
Yes: the six C13 outlets and the heavy-duty C19 outlet are all on battery backup. None is limited to surge protection alone, which leaves you completely free in how you distribute your machines.
What input voltage does the SRV3KI accept?
160 to 280 V at full load, and a window widened to 110-285 V at half load: the tolerance depends on the load. The accepted frequency is 40 to 70 Hz.
What is the quality of the power delivered by the SRV3KI?
A sine wave with a crest factor of 3:1, continuously rebuilt by double conversion and synchronised with the grid at 50/60 Hz ± 3 Hz. Output quality therefore does not depend on the quality of the incoming grid.
Can you work on the UPS without shutting down the servers?
Yes, an automatic and manual internal bypass keeps the power on: the automatic one in the event of a fault, the manual one for planned work on the unit.
How much space does the SRV3KI take up, and how much does it weigh?
19 cm wide, 42.5 cm deep and 33.6 cm high, at 26.8 kg. It is a narrow but heavy tower unit, to be placed on the floor: it is not a device you install on a shelf.
Why does 3000 VA give only 2400 W?
The power factor is 0.8: 3000 × 0.8 = 2400 W actually available. That is well above the 0.6 of entry-level UPSs, but it is this figure in watts that you need to compare with the combined consumption of your servers.
What efficiency, and does it need to go in a technical room?
88% at full load — the price of double conversion, which continuously rebuilds the power — and a noise level of 50 dBA. At that level, it is better suited to a technical room than to an office occupied all day.
How do you cleanly shut down the servers powered by the SRV3KI?
Through the USB port or the RS-232 serial port, with the software CD and USB cable supplied. A free slot also lets you add a network management card to control the UPS remotely.
Is the APC Easy UPS SRV3KI new and under warranty?
Yes, new equipment, with the invoice serving as the warranty document, for 2 years, covering repair or replacement. It is CE, UKCA, EAC and TISI certified; the datasheet lists all the values.
