What PoE budget does the TL-SG2428P offer across its 24 ports?
250 W in total, with a maximum of 30 W per port to the 802.3af and 802.3at standards. Twenty cameras at 12 W fit within the budget; eight Wi-Fi access points at 30 W already use it up. Four Gigabit SFP slots complete the front panel for fibre.
Can this switch route between VLANs?
Yes, with static routing: up to 32 IPv4 or IPv6 routes across 16 IP interfaces, with DHCP server and DHCP relay per interface, per VLAN and at Layer 2. Traffic between segments then stays within the switch.
How do you deploy this switch at a remote site?
With Omada zero-touch provisioning: the configuration is prepared remotely, without sending a technician on site. This requires an Omada cloud controller; the OC200 or OC300 hardware controller and the software version cover other needs.
How do you protect 24 network sockets from an unknown computer?
With 802.1X and a RADIUS server, IP-MAC-Port binding, port security, access control lists, denial-of-service attack defence, storm control and DHCP snooping.
Are voice and video prioritised on this model?
Yes: quality of service works across Layers 2 to 4 — port-based priority, 802.1p or DSCP — and a voice VLAN isolates telephony. IGMP snooping sends multicast streams only to the ports that request them.
Does this unit have fans, and where should it be installed?
Two fans cool this PoE model: it belongs in a rack or a network room, not on a desk. It is rack-mountable, with 24 access ports and 4 fibre slots on the front.
What Layer 2 features does this switch offer?
IGMP and MLD snooping, 802.1Q tag-based, MAC-based or protocol-based VLANs, STP, RSTP and MSTP, link aggregation, port isolation, port mirroring and 802.3x flow control — all managed from the web interface or the Omada controller.
What internal performance does this 28-port model offer?
56 Gbps of switching capacity and 41.66 Mpps, with an 8,000-entry MAC address table. It is sized for the 24 Gigabit ports and the 4 SFP slots all working together at peak times.
Is this switch IPv6-ready?
Yes: management, access control lists, quality of service and MLD snooping work over IPv6. The migration can therefore be done without replacing the switch, which matters for rack equipment meant to last.
