Frequently asked questions about this product
How many of the TL-SG2218P's ports supply power?
Sixteen out of eighteen: sixteen Gigabit PoE+ ports at up to 30 W each, within a 150 W budget, plus two SFP slots for fibre. With sixteen powered ports, the budget is shared: allow around 9 W per port if all of them are loaded.
Can this switch route between VLANs?
Yes, with static routing: up to 32 IPv4 or IPv6 routes on 16 IP interfaces, with a DHCP server and relay. Segmenting the network into 802.1Q VLANs therefore does not mean sending every internal exchange up to the router.
Which Layer 2 features does this switch offer?
IGMP and MLD snooping, 802.1Q tag-based, MAC-based or protocol-based VLANs, STP, RSTP and MSTP, link aggregation, port isolation, port mirroring and 802.3x flow control.
How do you protect sixteen network outlets from an unknown computer?
With 802.1X and a RADIUS server, backed up by IP-MAC-Port binding, port security, access control lists, denial-of-service attack defence, storm control and DHCP snooping.
How is this switch managed?
From the Omada SDN platform — cloud, web interface or app — or locally via the web interface, CLI, SNMP and RMON. Dual image lets you roll back to the previous firmware version if an update fails.
What internal performance does this 18-port model offer?
36 Gbps of switching capacity and 26.78 Mpps, with an 8,000-entry MAC address table. It is a 19-inch rack-mountable unit, to be installed in the rack with the site's other active equipment.
Are voice and video given priority?
Yes: quality of service works across Layers 2 to 4 — port-based, 802.1p or DSCP priority — with a dedicated voice VLAN, and IGMP snooping sends multicast only to the ports that request it.
Is the switch new, and where can I find its datasheet?
Yes, new equipment, with the invoice serving as the warranty document. The manufacturer's document details the JetStream Smart range and its security, routing and quality of service features: PDF datasheet.
