Huawei eKitEngine S530-24ST4XE L3 managed aggregation switch: 24 GE SFP fibre ports, including 8 combo ports (copper RJ45 or SFP fibre, your choice), 4 x 10 Gbit/s SFP+ ports and 2 x 10GE stack ports to link access switches in a high-availability setup.
Ports: 24 GE SFP ports, 8 of which can be used as either copper RJ45 or fibre (dual-purpose); 4 x 10GE SFP+ ports for ultra-fast uplinks; 2 x 10GE iStack ports to stack several switches into a single logical device.

Frequently asked questions about this product

How do the 8 combo ports on this switch work?
Each one can be used as copper RJ45 or as fibre SFP, never both at once: this lets you connect both copper access switches and fibre-linked buildings, on a chassis that also offers 24 Gigabit fibre slots.
What happens if a power supply fails?
The second one takes over: two modules work in 1+1 redundancy and can be replaced without interrupting service. The manufacturer even allows AC and DC modules to be mixed, depending on the site's needs.
Is this aggregation switch noisy?
38 dB claimed: that is low for a fan-cooled aggregation chassis, the equivalent of a quiet room. It is nonetheless intended for a rack cabinet or a comms room, where it takes up 1U in 19-inch format.
Does this switch support dynamic routing?
Yes, fully: static routes, RIP, RIPng, OSPF, OSPFv3, IS-IS, IS-ISv6, BGP and BGP4+, with ECMP, VRRP and VRRP6, policy-based routing and routing policies. Enough to carry the routed topology of a campus.
Can several of these switches be stacked?
Yes, with iStack, using two dedicated 10 Gbps stacking ports: several chassis become a single logical switch, with redundancy between members and link aggregation across devices to make uplinks more reliable.
Is this switch suitable for carrying video?
Yes: it supports a wide range of Layer 2 and Layer 3 multicast protocols — PIM SM, PIM DM, PIM SSM and IGMP snooping — which the manufacturer explicitly intends for high-definition video and video conferencing.
What happens if the link to the network core goes down?
The Smart Link feature fails over to a backup link: the switch connects to several aggregation devices over separate links. VRRP, for its part, provides gateway redundancy on routed networks.
What performance does this switch claim?
176 Gbps switching capacity, with a 32,000-entry MAC address table — twice that of a typical access switch. It operates from -5 to +50 °C, which leaves headroom in a comms room without air conditioning.
How are connected devices authenticated?
With 802.1X or MAC address authentication, with dynamic application of user policies — VLAN, quality of service and access control lists. Each workstation receives its rights the moment it connects, with no port-by-port configuration.
Is the switch new, and where can I view its datasheet?
