Product overview

A high-end, high-power online UPS for server rooms: online double conversion, 8000 VA / 7200 W.
Technology & protection: power is fully and continuously regenerated — the equipment is never exposed to the mains, with zero transfer time. Maximum protection against outages, surges, voltage fluctuations and electrical noise.
Power: 8000 VA for 7200 W of real power (0.9 power factor) — almost all of the rated power is available in watts.
Ports: terminal block connection (hard-wired by an electrician); USB and serial links for management.
Pure sine wave output; active cooling, to be installed in a technical room.

Frequently asked questions about this product

How long does the 9SX 8000i last on battery?
15 minutes at 50% load and 10 minutes at 70%, figures given at a 0.7 power factor. Runtime can be extended from a few minutes to several hours by adding external battery modules.
How many battery modules can be added to the 9SX 8000i?
Up to twelve, hot-pluggable and automatically detected by the UPS. This is what makes it possible to go from a few minutes of runtime to several hours without changing units.
How does the 9SX 8000i connect to the electrical installation?
Via a terminal block on both input and output: there are no sockets on the unit. It is fixed wiring, to be done by an electrician, with a dedicated circuit sized for 8 kVA.
Does this 8 kVA unit deliver 7200 W of usable power?
Yes, thanks to a 0.9 power factor: 8000 × 0.9 = 7200 W. The 9SX also has built-in input power factor correction, which limits the harmonics sent back onto the upstream grid.
What efficiency does the 9SX 8000i reach?
Up to 95%, and 98% in high-efficiency mode. On a unit of this power running around the clock, every point of efficiency translates directly into fewer watts of heat in the room.
What are the 9SX 8000i's load segments for?
To reserve battery runtime for critical equipment by switching off the rest. The same control also lets you remotely restart equipment that has frozen, or carry out scheduled shutdowns and restarts.
What space and weight should you allow for the 9SX 8000i?
440 × 260 × 700 mm and 84 kg, in a convertible rack or tower chassis. The model comprises a power module and a battery module: arrange for handling and a floor that can bear this load.
How do you monitor the 9SX 8000i and shut down virtualised servers?
Through a USB port or an RS-232 port — not simultaneously —, four dry contacts on DB9, a remote control mini terminal block and an emergency power-off. The Intelligent Power software, supplied, covers VMware and Hyper-V.
Is the Eaton 9SX 8000i (9SX8KIRT) new and under warranty?
Yes, new equipment, with the invoice serving as the warranty document, for 2 years. It delivers a sine wave, stays below 48 dBA and has a built-in bypass as well as batteries that are hot-swappable from the front panel. The datasheet covers the rest.
