How many devices can the 95 W of PoE on the Switch 24 PoE power?
The total budget is 95 W, shared between the 16 PoE+ ports: six devices at 15.4 W already fill it, and so do three PoE+ devices at 32 W. That is the limit to check before ordering, because it is reached well before you run out of ports. Each port goes up to 32 W in PoE+ and 15.4 W in PoE.
Can all 24 RJ45 ports provide PoE?
No: 16 ports out of 24. The other eight Gigabit ports carry data only — keep this in mind when choosing which socket will take a camera or a Wi-Fi access point. The 2 1G SFP slots are reserved for fibre uplinks.
Do you need a UniFi controller to run this switch?
Yes: configuration is done through the UniFi Network application, version 7.2.94 or later — hosted on a UniFi console, a local server or the Ubiquiti cloud. Have it ready before installation. A 1.3-inch touchscreen on the front shows the switch status without any software.
How many VLANs can be configured on the USW-24-POE?
Up to 1,000 VLANs, with a dedicated voice VLAN for telephony. The MAC address table holds 8,000 entries and the packet buffer reaches 0.5 MB. Port isolation and MAC address restriction complete the segmentation when two sockets must not see each other.
Does the switch support link aggregation and loop protection?
Yes to both: LACP aggregation combines several ports into a single link to the network core, STP and RSTP block the redundant path, and loop protection provides an extra safeguard. Storm control and egress rate limiting prevent a runaway device from flooding the network.
What protection should be applied to a network socket open to the public?
802.1X control authenticates the computer before opening the port. On top of that come access control lists — 128 IPv4 rules and 128 MAC rules —, MAC address blocking, device isolation, MAC address restriction and DHCP snooping, which blocks an address server plugged in by mistake.
What rack depth do you need to mount this switch?
The chassis measures 442 × 200 × 44 mm, i.e. 1U, and its brackets fit a rack from 400 to 1,200 mm deep. It weighs 3 kg, 3.1 kg with the brackets, in an SGCC steel case. Fanless, it adds no noise to the room.
What power consumption should you plan for, and what temperature range?
The power supply is internal, rated at 120 W: allow 25 W excluding PoE power and 120 W once PoE devices are connected, on a universal 100-240 V input. The switch operates from -5 to 40 °C, at 10 to 90% non-condensing humidity, with ±16 kV air electrostatic discharge protection.
How does this switch handle video surveillance traffic?
IGMP snooping sends multicast streams only to the ports that request them, with advanced settings — querier, fast leave, router port — instead of flooding all 24 ports. Jumbo frames are supported for large transfers, and flow control limits losses under congestion.
What internal performance does this 26-port switch offer?
52 Gbps of switching capacity, 26 Gbps of total non-blocking throughput and a forwarding rate of 39 Mpps, for 24 Gigabit ports and 2 SFP slots. The switch is also NDAA compliant, a frequent requirement in public tenders and video surveillance projects.
Is the switch new and covered by a warranty?
Yes, new equipment, with the invoice serving as the warranty document. The unit is CE, FCC, IC and Anatel certified, and passive cooling — with no fan — removes the most common wear part on this type of equipment.
