Frequently asked questions about this product
Can the SRT 5000 RM HW be connected to outlets?
No: the output is on a terminal block only, like the input. That is what the “HW” in the model name means — hard wired. The wiring is fixed and must be installed by an electrician, distribution outlets included.
Is the network management card supplied?
Yes, a Web/SNMP management card is in the box, along with a temperature probe, the rack-mount kit and rails, removable feet, the CDs and the manual. There is nothing extra to order to install and monitor it.
How long does it take to recharge the batteries?
1 hour 30 minutes for a full recharge — very fast for this power rating. The sealed lead-acid battery is replaced with part number APCRBC140 and is covered for two years.
What input voltage does the SRT 5000 RM HW accept?
208 V or 230 V depending on the connection, over an accepted range of 160 to 275 V and an automatically detected frequency of 40 to 70 Hz.
Does this 5 kVA UPS deliver 4500 W of usable power?
Yes: 4500 W for 5000 VA, i.e. a power factor of 0.9. It is this wattage figure that you need to compare with the combined consumption of the rack, never the apparent power.
How much space does the SRT 5000 RM HW take up?
432 × 719 × 130 mm for 56 kg, in a convertible rack/tower chassis. The 72 cm depth rules out short cabinets, and the weight means rack mounting takes several people.
How do you monitor the SRT 5000 RM HW?
Via an RJ-45 10/100 Base-T port, an RJ-45 serial port, a USB port, a contact closure and a SmartSlot. A multifunction LCD console shows the status on the front panel.
Is the APC Smart-UPS SRT 5000 RM HW new and under warranty?
Yes, new equipment, with the invoice serving as the warranty document, for 3 years. It delivers a sine wave output and reports faults through audible and visual alarms graded by severity.
