Is the network management card supplied with the 9PX 1000?
Yes, the network management card is in the box — that is what the “N” in the part number indicates. Remote monitoring and control are therefore up and running from commissioning, with no accessory to order.
How long does the 9PX 1000 run on battery?
28 minutes at half load, i.e. 500 W. That is exceptionally long for a UPS of this power rating, and runtime can be extended further with up to four hot-swappable battery modules.
Does this 1000 VA UPS really deliver 1000 W?
Yes: the power factor is 1, so all of the apparent power is available in watts. On a conventional UPS with a 0.7 power factor, only 700 would remain — that is nearly a third more equipment for the same footprint.
What are the controllable outlet groups on the 9PX for?
To switch off secondary equipment first: two outlet groups can be controlled separately, so you can reserve the whole battery for critical machines during an outage. That is extra runtime with no additional hardware.
Can a 1000 VA online UPS stay in an office?
This one, yes: it is rated at less than 35 dBA, which is very low for a double-conversion unit. Allow for 17.4 kg for a 2U chassis 440 mm wide and 450 mm deep.
Can the 9PX 1000 be installed in a rack or as a tower?
Both: the box contains two 19-inch mounting brackets, two universal rails and two tower stands, as well as a cable locking system. No kit to order separately.
What outlets does the 9PX 1000 have?
Eight C13 outlets on the output, the format of computer and server power cords, with a C14 input. Two IEC output cords are supplied: beyond two machines, you will need your own cords.
Does power still get through if the UPS breaks down?
Yes, an internal bypass lets mains power through to the equipment. A multilingual graphic LCD screen also shows the unit's status and measurements on the front panel.
How do you connect the 9PX 1000 to a monitoring system or a server?
Via the supplied network card, a USB port, an RS-232 serial port, and three mini terminal blocks: remote on/off, remote power off and output relay. The USB and serial cables are in the box.
Is the Eaton 9PX 1000 (9PX1000IRTN) new and under warranty?
Yes, new equipment, with the invoice serving as the warranty document. It accepts an input of 176 to 276 V at 50 or 60 Hz with automatic selection, with input power factor correction. The datasheet covers the rest.
Doubling the runtime comes down to one extra battery cabinet: 9 minutes at half load become 23 minutes. The 16 12 V batteries are chosen and ordered separately.
