Frequently asked questions about this product

Does the 2930F 48G JL254A power devices over PoE?
No: this part number is the non-PoE version. Its 48 Gigabit ports carry data only, and the 4 SFP+ slots are used for 10 Gbps uplinks. The PoE+ version in the series offers a 370 W budget.
Does Layer 3 routing require an additional licence?
No: static routing, RIP and OSPF are included, with no licence to buy. This sets the range apart from some competitors, where routing is paid for separately.
What are the OSPF limits on this model?
A single OSPF area and eight interfaces at most. This is access-level OSPF: enough to connect a building to a network core, not enough to carry the routed topology of an entire campus. Static routing supports 256 routes.
Can several of these switches be stacked?
Yes, up to eight, with VSF stacking: the stack is managed as a single switch, in a ring topology that survives the loss of a member. A link aggregation group can combine ports located on several members.
How is this switch deployed at a new site?
Through Zero Touch Provisioning: it fetches its configuration by itself the first time it is powered on. Monitoring is then handled through Aruba Central in the cloud or through AirWave, with a REST API to automate changes.
What happens if the network gateway goes down?
The VRRP protocol provides redundancy: a second device takes over the gateway address without the workstations noticing. Dynamic segmentation also applies user policies to wired and wireless connections alike.
What performance does this 48-port chassis offer?
176 Gbps of switching capacity and up to 112 Mpps, with a 32,768-address MAC table. The four 10 Gbps SFP+ uplinks keep 48 access ports from being choked on a single outlet.
What power supply is built into this switch?
An 80 PLUS Silver certified power supply, a sign of efficiency on equipment that stays on permanently. The chassis is 1U rack-mountable in the 19-inch format.
Is the switch new, and where can I find its datasheet?
