Frequently asked questions about this product
What do this model's 4 10-Gigabit links bring?
They remove the bottleneck towards the network core or the server: 24 Gigabit access ports then uplink over four 10 Gbps links instead of a single copper link. Switching capacity reaches 128 Gbps at 95.23 Mpps.
What PoE budget does this switch offer across its 24 ports?
384 W in total, with up to 30 W per port under the 802.3af and 802.3at standards. Twenty-four 12 W cameras draw less than 300 W; a dozen 30 W motorised cameras exhaust the budget.
Can this switch route between VLANs?
Yes, with Layer 2+ static routing: up to 48 IPv4 and IPv6 static routes. Each 802.1Q VLAN gets its own interface and the switch forwards traffic from one to another, without sending internal traffic all the way up to the firewall.
How can network sockets be protected from an unknown computer?
With 802.1X, IP-MAC-Port binding, Layer 2 to 4 access control lists and DHCP snooping. An unauthenticated computer stays off the network, and one machine cannot spoof another's address.
How is this switch managed day to day?
From the Omada SDN platform, for centralised cloud management, or locally via the web interface, command line and SNMP. Dual image lets you roll back to the previous firmware version if an update goes wrong.
What buffer memory does this switch have to absorb traffic bursts?
12 Mbit of buffer and a table of 16,000 MAC addresses: enough to absorb peaks when the four 10-Gigabit links are working at the same time on a dense network, without dropping packets.
What form factor does this switch take in a rack?
A 1U, 19-inch standard chassis, to be installed in a rack or a technical room. Like any PoE switch of this density, it is fan-cooled: allow the necessary clearance and avoid placing it in an occupied office.
Is the switch new, and where can I view its datasheet?
Yes, new equipment, with the invoice serving as the warranty document. The manufacturer's document details the JetStream L2+ range and its routing, security and quality of service features: PDF datasheet.
