Frequently asked questions about this product

Why does this switch only have fibre ports?
It is an all-fibre aggregation switch: its 12 SFP+ slots at 10 Gbps bring together the uplinks of the access switches in a building or a data centre. They take single-mode or multimode modules, or a DAC cable up to 5 m.
What latency does this aggregation switch claim?
Under 2 microseconds, with 240 Gbps switching capacity and 80.352 Mpps. That is the level expected of a network core, where every added microsecond affects all the traffic passing through it.
Does this switch support dynamic routing?
Yes: static and dynamic routing, with RIP, RIPng, OSPF and OSPFv3 — over both IPv4 and IPv6. Enough to make this switch the central routing point of a building, with no additional router.
What happens if the power supply fails?
An external 12 V, 60 W redundant power supply is available as an option: it takes over and keeps the network core running. On an aggregation switch, a power failure takes down the whole building.
How many VLANs and filtering rules does this model support?
4,000 VLANs with 802.1Q tagging, including a voice VLAN, and 4,000 access control rules for Ethernet, IPv4 and IPv6. The MAC address table holds up to 32,000 entries and the packet buffer is 16 MB.
How many links can be aggregated on this switch?
Six aggregation groups, enough to double or quadruple the links to the busiest equipment. STP, RSTP and MSTP, storm control and loop protection round off the reliability features.
Where can this aggregation switch be installed?
In a rack, on a wall or on a desk: all three mounting options are supported and the kits are included. Management is via the web interface, the command line or SNMP v1, v2c and v3, and remotely via GWN.Cloud or GWN Manager.
What protection does this switch apply to the network?
802.1X authentication with RADIUS and TACACS+, ARP inspection against gateway spoofing, IP Source Guard and DHCP snooping. IGMP and MLD snooping also prevent the links from being flooded with multicast traffic.
Is the switch new, and where can I view its datasheet?
