L2+ managed rackmount switch with 24 Gigabit SFP fibre ports, 8 RJ45 combo ports and 4 SFP+ 10G uplinks for campus and data centre fibre networks.
The NBS3200-24SFP/8GT4XS has 24 Gigabit SFP ports dedicated to optical fibre, 8 RJ45 combo ports usable as copper or SFP fibre, and 4 SFP+ 10G ports for high-speed uplinks. This switch has no PoE ports. Non-blocking switching reaches 128 Gbps at 96 Mpps, with a 16,000-entry MAC table.
The L2+ feature set covers VLAN, STP/RSTP/MSTP, IGMP Snooping, LACP and the full security suite: IP Source Guard, Anti-ARP Spoofing, DHCP Snooping. It is managed via Ruijie Cloud or the local web interface.

Frequently asked questions about this product

Why does this model line up 24 SFP ports instead of RJ45 ports?
Because it is designed for all-fibre networks: each Gigabit SFP port takes an optical module and serves a remote room, floor or building, where copper stops at 100 metres. Eight combo ports still let you connect standard RJ45.
How does a combo port work on this switch?
Each of the 8 combo ports combines an RJ45 socket and an SFP slot that share the same link: you use one or the other, never both at once. This is what lets you move a link from copper to fibre without changing switches.
Does this model power devices over PoE?
No: the NBS3200-24SFP/8GT4XS has no PoE port and no PoE budget. Cameras and Wi-Fi access points connected to its combo ports therefore need their own power supply, or an injector placed on the link.
What are the 4 SFP+ ports on this switch for?
They are the 10 Gbps uplinks, to the network core or a storage array: 24 Gigabit fibre access links do not get bottlenecked on a single output. They can be aggregated together, up to 16 groups of 8 members, using LACP or static aggregation.
How many VLANs does this switch support?
4,094 VLANs, across the full range of IDs, with a 16,000-entry MAC address table. VLANs can be assigned by port, by MAC address or by IP subnet, and a voice VLAN is provided for telephony.
How does the switch protect the network against loops?
With STP, RSTP and MSTP, supplemented by loop prevention with notification and automatic recovery of error-disabled ports. Broadcast, multicast and unknown unicast storm suppression prevents a burst of traffic from flooding the network.
What protection against address spoofing is provided?
IP Source Guard, ARP anti-spoofing protection and DHCP snooping: a machine can neither impersonate the gateway nor hand out fake addresses. Access control lists and per-port rate limiting complete the set-up.
How do you manage this switch day to day?
Through Ruijie Cloud, free for the lifetime of the hardware, or through the local web interface. The self-organising network also recognises connected IP cameras and applies a suitable policy to them, which makes troubleshooting a video surveillance installation easier.
What internal performance does this all-fibre chassis claim?
128 Gbps of switching capacity and 96 Mpps of forwarding rate: the 24 Gigabit fibre links, the 8 combo ports and the 4 10 Gigabit uplinks can all work together. The MAC address table holds 16,000 entries, enough to cover an entire campus.
Where should this switch be installed, and how is it cooled?
In a 19-inch rack: the chassis is rack-mountable and its thermal design is intended for continuous operation. Like all NBS3200 models of this density, it is fan-cooled — keep it in a comms room rather than an office, and leave the airflow unobstructed.
Is the switch new, and where can I find its datasheet?
Yes, new equipment, with the invoice serving as the warranty document. The manufacturer's document covers the RG-NBS31 and RG-NBS32 series, with details of the ports, capacities and security features: datasheet (PDF).
