The Aruba CX 6100 24G PoE+ 370W is an L2 managed access switch running AOS-CX, designed for Wi-Fi 6 deployments, high-definition IP cameras and IP telephony in professional environments.
24 Class 4 PoE Gigabit RJ45 ports: each port delivers up to 30 W (IEEE 802.3af/at), for a total budget of 370 W to power wireless access points, surveillance cameras and VoIP phones at the same time, with no external power supply.
4 × 1/10 GbE SFP+ ports for very high-speed fibre uplinks to the distribution layer.
Centralised monitoring and management through Aruba Central: cloud configuration, ACL, QoS and network policy automation with no on-premises server.

Frequently asked questions about this product

How is the 370 W of PoE+ shared across 24 ports?
370 W shared by all 24 ports, in Class 4, up to 30 W each. Twenty-four 12 W cameras draw less than 300 W; a dozen power-hungry Wi-Fi 6 access points use up the whole budget. The budget, not the number of ports, sets the limit.
What speed do this model's uplinks offer?
Four 10 Gbps SFP+ slots: the uplink to the network core does not hold back the 24 access ports. Switching capacity reaches 128 Gbps at 95.2 Mpps.
Can this switch route between several subnets?
Yes, with static routing for IPv4 and IPv6, with a dual stack running both protocols in parallel. Traffic between VLANs stays within the switch instead of going up to the router, which lightens the load on the uplink.
How many VLANs can be active simultaneously?
512 active VLANs, taken from the full 802.1Q range, with LACP aggregation of up to eight groups, 802.1p and DiffServ quality of service, and IPv4 and IPv6 access control lists.
How is this switch deployed at a remote site?
Through Zero Touch Provisioning: once plugged in, it fetches its configuration by itself. Monitoring is then handled through Aruba Central, in the cloud or on site, and the embedded software is activated with no additional subscription.
Can the configuration of several switches be automated?
Yes, through the REST API built into AOS-CX: changes are scripted instead of being entered port by port. The Switch Multi-Edit software also applies the same change to several devices in a single operation.
Does this PoE chassis have fans, and where should it be installed?
Yes, it is fan-cooled: only the compact 12-port model in the CX family does without fans. It belongs in a rack or a wiring closet, in the 1U, 19-inch format, with the clearance needed for side-to-side airflow.
What network access protections does this model offer?
IPv4 and IPv6 access control lists, RADIUS and TACACS+ authentication, and management security that restricts access to critical commands through privilege levels. Enough to control what comes in through 24 ports spread across a building.
Is the switch new, and where can I find its datasheet?
Yes, new equipment, with the invoice serving as the warranty document. The manufacturer's document details the CX 6100 series and lets you compare the PoE and non-PoE models: datasheet (PDF).
