Frequently asked questions about this product

What is the difference between the 12 Gigabit ports and the 12 2.5G ports?
The speed: twelve ports top out at 1 Gbps, while the other twelve reach 2.5 Gbps. All of them are PoE+. Reserve the multi-gigabit ports for Wi-Fi 6 or 6E access points and servers, and the Gigabit ports for cameras and phones.
How are the 400 W of PoE+ shared across 24 ports?
400 W shared by all 24 ports, each of which can receive up to 32 W in PoE+. Twelve Wi-Fi access points drawing 30 W already consume 360 W: in a dense deployment, it is the budget, not the number of ports, that sets the limit.
What happens if there is a mains power cut?
The switch accepts DC backup power through an RPS input, in addition to its 550 W internal power supply. A backup source then takes over, keeping the network and the PoE devices running.
Can this switch route between VLANs?
Yes, it is a Layer 3 model: inter-VLAN routing, static routing, DHCP server and relay. The table holds 1,000 IPv4 routes and 4,000 ARP entries, with 1,000 VLANs and 16,000 MAC addresses — enough to structure an entire building.
Is this switch suitable for an audiovisual installation?
Yes: professional AV profiles are provided — Dante, Q-SYS, NDI, SDVoE, Shure, AES67, Crestron — with advanced IGMP settings (querier, fast leave, router port) and DSCP quality of service. These are exactly the settings these protocols require.
How much electrical power should be allowed for at full load?
460 W maximum, PoE included, compared with 60 W with no powered devices at all. The chassis dissipates 204.72 BTU/h excluding PoE. Size the UPS for the actual load, not for the idle consumption.
What rack depth is required?
The chassis measures 442 × 325 × 44 mm — 1U with a depth of 32.5 cm — and its brackets fit racks from 400 to 1,200 mm deep. It weighs 5.1 kg, in an SGCC steel enclosure, and operates from -5 to 40 °C.
Is a UniFi controller required to run this switch?
Yes: configuration is done through the UniFi Network application, version 5.14.12 or later, hosted on a UniFi console, a local server or in the cloud. A 1.3-inch touchscreen on the front panel shows the switch status without any software.
What access protections does this switch apply?
802.1X access control, access lists — 128 IPv4 rules and 128 MAC rules —, device isolation, MAC address blocking, MAC-based restriction, DHCP snooping, storm control and loop protection.
Is the switch new and covered by a warranty?
Yes, new equipment, with the invoice serving as the warranty document. The chassis is CE, FCC, IC and Anatel certified, NDAA compliant, and protected against electrostatic discharge up to ±16 kV (air).
