What PoE budget does the Zyxel GS1920-8HPv2 offer?
130 W in total, up to 30 W per port in PoE+ 802.3at, across its 8 Gigabit ports. Enough to power several Wi-Fi 6 access points or motorised cameras at the same time, in an office without power outlets in the right places.
What are the 2 combo ports on this switch for?
They are the uplinks, usable with RJ-45 copper or SFP fibre, chosen for each slot — never both at once. They connect the switch to the upstream switch, over copper in the same room or over fibre between two buildings.
Do you need to know the command line to configure this switch?
No: management is done through a web interface. VLANs, quality of service, IGMP snooping, LACP aggregation and access control lists are all set there without learning any command-line syntax.
Can the GS1920-8HPv2 be managed from the cloud?
Yes, through the Nebula platform, with no licence to pay for. NebulaFlex technology lets you switch between standalone and cloud management in a few clicks: you start locally and move to the cloud later, without changing hardware.
Is this PoE switch noisy in an office?
No: this desktop model is fanless, so it is silent. That is a real criterion when the switch powering the cameras sits in a shared room rather than in a closed rack cabinet.
How can I check the devices' actual PoE consumption?
With the PoE LEDs on the front panel and the consumption display in the web interface, in real time. The default mode delivers only the power actually requested by each device, instead of reserving the maximum per port.
What performance does this switch deliver?
20 Gbps switching capacity and 15 Mpps, with a 16,000-entry MAC address table and 1.5 MB of buffer memory. The Energy Efficient Ethernet standard reduces the power consumption of idle ports.
How much space does the GS1920-8HPv2 take up?
267 × 162 × 44 mm, in a desktop format: it sits on a shelf, in a utility cupboard or at the back of an enclosure, without requiring a 19-inch rack.
Is the switch new and covered by a warranty?
