How are the 195 W of PoE+ shared across 24 ports?
195 W shared by all 24 ports: this is a deliberately modest budget. A dozen cameras at 15 W already use it up. This model is aimed at installations where only some of the ports are powered, not at dense Wi-Fi deployments — the 24P4JX offers 400 W for that.
Do the cameras stay powered during a restart?
Yes. Perpetual PoE keeps power on the ports while the switch restarts, including during an update. This model is also among the part numbers that support Fast PoE, which restores power before the boot is complete.
What uplinks does this model offer?
Two 10 Gbps SFP+ ports and two 2.5 Gbps SFP ports: the former connect up to the network core, the latter suit links between floors or recent Wi-Fi access points. Switching capacity reaches 98 Gbps.
How many VLANs and MAC addresses does this switch handle?
4,094 VLANs and a table of 16,000 MAC addresses, as static, dynamic or blackhole entries to keep out a specific machine. Learning and ageing follow the IEEE 802.1d standard.
What does this switch offer against a broken link in a ring?
The ERPS protocol, standardised as ITU-T G.8032, switches over to the backup path within a few milliseconds. STP, RSTP and MSTP cover conventional topologies, and LACP aggregation combines several links into one resilient connection.
What protection does this switch apply to the network?
Defence against denial-of-service, ARP and ICMP attacks, secure boot, port isolation, blackhole MAC addresses, AAA authentication, CPU protection and DHCP snooping, which only allows the declared address server.
How do you prioritise a stream and throttle an overly chatty port?
Each interface has eight queues, transmit and receive rate limiting, per-port traffic policing and IPv4 access control lists with packet filtering. IGMP snooping v1, v2 and v3 rounds off the set.
Can this switch be managed without going through the cloud?
Yes: the HUAWEI eKit app works in cloud or local mode, and the web interface, SSH v2.0 and HTTPS remain directly accessible. You can switch between the two modes according to internal policy, without changing hardware.
Does this switch need an external power brick?
No, the power supply module is built in: a mains cord is all you need. The chassis is in a 1U rack-mountable format, with active cooling and regulated fan speed — its place is in a rack or a technical room.
