Frequently asked questions about this product
What do this switch's 195 W of PoE+ amount to?
195 W shared between the 24 ports, each of which can go up to 30 W. Sixteen 12 W cameras fit within the budget; six 30 W Wi-Fi access points already use it up. The JL684A version in the same series offers 370 W if the budget needs to be larger.
What speed do the 4 uplinks reach?
They are 1G/10G SFP+ slots: they accept a Gigabit fibre module as well as a 10 Gigabit module, so you can start at 1G and then move up in speed without changing switches.
How many VLANs can be created, and in what range?
256 simultaneous VLANs, with IDs taken between 2 and 4093: the range is wide, but the number of active networks is capped at 256. The auto voice VLAN also recognises IP phones and prioritises their traffic.
Can PoE power be scheduled by time of day?
Yes: PoE scheduling sets the day and time at which each port powers the connected device. Power allocation follows LLDP-MED, the PoE class or actual consumption — which matters when the budget is tight.
How many ports can be aggregated towards the network core?
Eight ports per group and eight groups on this 24-port model, using LACP or manual configuration. Uplink bandwidth is multiplied and the link survives the loss of a cable.
Is a licence needed for Instant On cloud management?
No: all features are included in the price of the hardware, with no licence or subscription. Management is done through the mobile app, the hosted web portal or the local web interface, the latter requiring no Internet access.
What filtering rules can be applied?
Up to 50 access control lists for IPv4 and MAC on ingress, totalling 480 rules, which can be applied to a port or a VLAN. They work alongside 802.1X with RADIUS-assigned VLANs, DHCP snooping and dynamic ARP protection.
What internal performance does this model offer?
128 Gbps of switching capacity and 95.23 Mpps, with a 16,000-address MAC table. The form factor is 1U rack-mountable to the 19-inch standard, with jumbo frames up to 9,216 bytes.
Is the switch new, and where can I view its documentation?
Yes, new equipment, with the invoice serving as the warranty document. The manufacturer's document details the Instant On 1930 series and lets you compare the PoE budgets of the different models: datasheet (PDF).
48 Gigabit ports, half of them PoE+ (ports 1 to 24), for mixed SME or campus deployments — simplified control from the Aruba Instant On app, with no subscription.
•24 of the 48 ports in PoE+ (802.3at), ports 1 to 24
•Up to 30 W per port — Wi-Fi access points, IP cameras, IP phones
Managed access switch designed for SMEs and branch offices: powers workstations, Wi-Fi access points and IP cameras over Power over Ethernet, with centralised control from Aruba Central and automated deployment.
•Managed via Aruba Central (cloud or on-premise), web GUI, CLI and REST API
•PoE+ up to 30 W per port (IEEE 802.3af/at, class 4)
